An early Tuesday morning collision on the Whitestone Expressway has left one man dead and another in the hospital.
Police say that at about 7 a.m., authorities found a 50-year-old man unconscious and another 51-year-old man with neck and back pain near Exit 14.
EMS responded to the scene and took both men to Booth Memorial Hospital (now called New York Presbyterian-Queens). The 50-year-old man was pronounced dead.
The 51-year-old victim was listed in in stable condition.
After a brief investigation by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad, police say the 50-year-old man, driving a 2011 red Ford truck, lost consciousness and sideswiped a 2013 white Audi sedan driven by a 34-year-old man.
The Ford truck then rear-ended a 2007 white Chevy truck, driven by the 51-year-0ld victim.
The 34-year-old Audi driver was not hospitalized.
There are no arrests at the time. The investigation is ongoing.
