The 109th Precinct Community Council will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the 109th Precinct, 37-05 Union Street, Flushing.
Flushing residents will get a chance to meet with local farmers from Golden Earthworm Organic Farm to launch the 2014 season for Flushing Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).
The “Meet the Farmer” forum, which will take place on Sunday, March 16, at the Flushing Quaker Meetinghouse, 137-16 Northern Boulevard, is free and open to the public.
Farmers from Golden Earthworm Organic Farm will bring samples of the fruits and vegetables that Flushing CSA members can expect this year. The event will also feature presentations by organic vendors and local urban farm groups.
Flushing CSA will deliver 26 weeks of vegetables from the end of May to the end of
November. The response from last year’s participants was overwhelmingly positive and Flushing CSA organizers expect to double the number of local families served to 60.
Shares in the Flushing CSA will cost $560 a year – which comes out to about $21.62 a week – enough food for a family of three adults or two adults and two children.

New York Chinese Opera Society will sponsor a special performance of Peking opera to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The program includes many popular singing pieces including “Wu Jia Po” and “Fleeing Down the Mountain,” featuring Xing Wang, Hong Wang, Ling Wang and Peter Lu.
